Our Valentine Tradition {And a Scentsy Giveaway - Closed!}

Honestly, I don't remember our first Valentine Day as a married couple.  I know we had just discovered that we were expecting our first child {second pregnancy} and I know we went to the Valentine Banquet at church.  After that, I don't remember much.  

I do remember our second Valentine Day!  It was a rough one, but out of it was born our annual Valentine tradition!  It's amazing how some of the best things in life come out of tragedy.  {Not sure if you can consider what we were going through a "tragedy" exactly.  But that word sounded great in that sentence, don't ya think?}

My husband had taken a position in a church in Ga and our baby had been born three and a half month earlier.  Things weren't going well there.  It's a long story and some of you know more that you wish you did!  :)  What started out as the dream job was quickly turning into a night mare!  

To make a very long story short, he was not even able to leave the church property until around 8:00 that evening.  If you know anything at all about the Atlanta area, you know it takes a while to get home!  A quick trip from our home to the church was 45 minutes.  Even if he got home in that amount of time, you just can't go out and eat at 9:00 and have time to eat let alone have time to do anything else.  

My husband was a bit upset about the whole thing, but I was determined to make it fun anyway.  He called a pizza joint and ordered some kind of pizza, a drink and a dessert.  It was on his way home and ready by the time he got there, so that worked out great!  We ate pizza by candle light, watched a movie and had a pretty great evening!  

We've done that same thing every year since!

It's great! The kids eat and go to be early - around 7:00.  We don't have to worry about finding or paying a babysitter.  We just throw them all in their beds!  

My husband is not much of a movie watcher, so this is my one night each year when I get to watch a romantic movie and he has to at least pretend to watch it too!   Most years he's just picked up a movie on the way home.  A word of advise: It is my experience that men know NOTHING of romantic movies!   If you chose to do this type of thing, you may wish to make the movie choosing YOUR job!  My husband and I laugh each year about the horrible movies we've had to endure year after year!  

In his defense, there were a few, very few, that were actually quite good, but for the most part, they were not.  LOL  We keep saying that I'm going to choose the movie this time, but that has yet to happen!  We do enjoy a good laugh though, and if that means pointing out all the "there's no ways" - well, at least have fun!
