Are You a Savy Business Woman?

Click here for more information on our currant Giveaway.   You're little girls will love you forever!

Admit it!  You know you stay home all day watching TV, drinking a frappuccino, and painting your nails while the little fairies wash the laundry, dust, organize, change diapers and fix dinner.  (well, that's what my peeps think sometimes...)

The truth is, there's allot of work that goes into house keeping.  One more reason I don't understand a woman wanting a career.  I can't keep mine the way I like it and I do stay home!  But just because I think a mom should stay home and care for her children doesn't mean I think she shouldn't work at saving money or even making it.  Who doesn't like a little spending money?  Or maybe just a way to breath a little?

If you read Proverbs 31, you will see that the "virtuous woman" made business deals.  She bought a field.  She made clothes.  Her family was clothed with scarlet - they were in style (modest style) and looked nice.  She worked from home.

There are several things a wife and mother can do while she's at home to make money for her family.  Here are a few that I can think of:
  • Teach piano or other instruments
  • Cut hair
  • Raise chickens - sell eggs
  • Have a milk cow?  Sell fresh, organic milk, yogurt, or butter
  • Raise bees/honey - something I'd love to learn to do
  • Bake/sell bread, baked goods, desserts
  • Clean houses
  • Babysit
  • Make crafts (hair bows, wreaths, flower arrangements, candles, soap...)
  • Sew clothes, curtains, slip covers
  • Teach swimming lessons
  • Teach cooking classes
  • Can produce, jams and pickles to sell
  • Think of your favorite thing to do and make it work for you.  Be creative.  Just so long as you can do it from home or take you children along with you.  Let them help you.  Teach them to work hard and have fun at the same time.
  • Consider some other home based business.
There are also ways that you can save money at home:
  • Coupons will save you money, but be careful, you may end up saving money and eating tons of junk food!
  • Stay home and stop paying for the extra gas it takes to get work, not to mention all the child care costs.
  • Trade baked goods or clean houses in exchange for music lessons or other lessons for your children.
  • Plant a garden and learn to can.  It can save you hundreds of dollars every year and it's healthier.
  • Learn to make everything from scratch.  It cost less (even than using coupons) and it's way healthier!
  • Use herbs rather than pay for expensive meds and doctor's apts.
  • Invest in a high efficiency washing machine and dryer
  • Make your laundry detergent, dryer sheets, fabric softener, dish washing detergent, deodorant, baby wipes, baby food, and insect repellants at home.  These are so much more inexpensive and way healthier!
Can you think of any other ideas that I didn't think of?   I'd love to hear some of your ideas.
