You know that microwave pop corn in a bag is really not good for you, right? And for our snack today, we're having...drum roll....poison in a bag!! YAAAAY!!!
{Artificial flavorings, colorings and hydrogenated oils are a few of the synthetic chemicals these pop corn companies have been known to put in their popcorn.}
Well, now, you can have microwave PoP cOrN in a bag and not feel bad! This is such a cool idea. A friend of mine told me about this and {with her permission} I had to share it with you! Not only is it actually GOOD for you, but it also costs less than the packaged store stuff.
- brown paper lunch bag
- 1/4 cup all natural popping corn
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil or butter
- sea salt
Directions:
- Put your pop corn in the bag. Add some butter.
- Fold the top of the bag down and "dog-ear" it.
- Put the bag in the microwave for 3 minutes.
- Stop the microwave when the popping stops, unless you're like me and you like burnt popcorn. Most microwaves only take about 2 minuets, so make sure you watch it.
I think I may have forgot to tell you, but you need a kid - any kid will do - to push the buttons and count backward the entire time. :) Just not sure it would work out if you don't have the kid and the counting. It might, but we've never tried it that way. - Pull out the bag and open carefully so you don't burn yourself. Sprinkle with salt.
- Eat the popcorn using your fingers to place it in your mouth and your teeth to.....I think you "got it" from this point.....
HaVe FuN!!

My husband and oldest daughter "have" to have their popcorn. I "had" started to only pop it the old-fashioned way, but have really fallen off the old fashioned pop-corn wagon. Though not as often as before we strayed back to the microwave stuff that I know is yucky for you. However, you have inspired me to run into the kitchen and actually prepare several of your version! I already have a large container labeled "pop-corn" that several baags will fit nicely into! Thanks, I think I'll share this post! You are doing a great job with your blog, BTW:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rebecca! My dad has a "thing" for popcorn too. I can give or take it, but I thought this would be a fun thing for the kids and it's healthy to boot! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a fantastic idea! I gave up microwave popcorn when I learned how bad it was for me, but I do miss it.
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me, got some ready I am on my way, giggles, have a great day. Barbara
