Wrapping Paper Tradition

We have 4 children which really isn't a whole lot.  Well, some days it seems like we may have a few more, but when you get right down to it, 4 kids are really not that many.  =)  I told you how we color code our kids.  It really does make life easy and the kids love it because they each have their own color.

When it comes to Christmas gifts we do a similar thing.  {In the long run it saves us money since we don't have to worry about bows and name tags, which are going to get pulled off and thrown away anyway. I'd like to think that this is my way of being practical and not flat cheap!}  Each family member gets their own wrapping paper.  There are so many to choose from!

Some years I've taken the kids and let them each choose their own.  Other years I've wrapped all the gifts and put them under the tree leaving the kids to guess and wonder which wrapping paper is theirs.  Then on Christmas morning we know which gifts belong to which kid based on the wrapping.

It's really not a big deal, but it's something our kids have fun with.  It seems to be the little things that make the biggest memories!

  1. One year when I was younger my parents did a similar thing (put the presents under the tree with no tags), but instead of different paper, they assigned each one a shape! So all we knew was that "triangle" got the biggest box, and "square" had the most...it was a lot of fun.

  2. Yep, this has been a wonderful tradition for us, too! It really is a great way to save on those bows and tags, but it also makes it fun to watch the kids guess whose is whose.

  3. We have color-coded dishes. AND we only have one set for each person. It cuts down on the dirty dishes and I know who to yell at, lol. Love the color coded paper idea!

  4. We have color-coded everything for our kids...so much better when you don't have to go thru a list of "Did you leave that out...??" lol You just know. I didn't include the link in the post, so I'll have to fix that, but here's the link to that post if you're interested. http://searching4hiddentreasures.blogspot.com/2011/04/color-kids-organized.html
