Little ways to improve overall health..

  1. Stop drinking soda and kool-aid, instead drink water and juice without added sugar or sugar substitutes.
  2. Switch to stone ground whole wheat bread
  3. Go organic when and if you can
  4. Instead of potato chips feed your kids pretzels, corn chips, tortilla chips with salsa, and whole wheat crackers
  5. Make healthy dips for chips and crackers.  Kids LOVE to dip.
  6. Eat fresh or dried fruit if you need something sweet
  7. Eat dark chocolate made with at least 75% cocoa
  8. Switch to Sea Salt
  9. Don't ever use sugar substitutes.  They are worse than refined sugar.
  10. Use honey and raw sugars to sweeten things like teas or cookies when you can.  It's so good for you.
  11. Use a chemical free make up.  Mary Kay has a great line of mineral based make up, or you can go with something like smooth minerals by Avon which is a little more inexpensive.
  12. Use chemical free soaps, cleansers and laundry detergents.
  13. Don't wear sun glasses if you can manage. Your eyes actually convert the sun's rays into vitamin E better if you don't have the sun glasses to stop it.  And your eyes will adjust better if they are used to doing so.  It's better to just go with out.  Lucky for me. My kids seem to have a vendetta against any and all sun glasses that I've ever owned.
  14. Wear chemical free sun screens and bug spray.
  15. Some people would go as far as to say don't color you hair or paint your nails...I don't color my hair, but I think (this is just me personally) you have to do your nails...you gotta look good.  ;)
  16. Eat as many fresh veggies as you can.  Introduce them to your children early and often and don't offer the unhealthy things and your kids will never know what they're missing...they won't be missing anything..they'll be much healthier than most of their friends.  The more colorful your food is the more nutritious it is...and this isn't talking about gummy bears or M&Ms.
  17. Get more exercise and sun shine/fresh air.
  18. Cover your matrices with plastic.  This cuts out all allergens, germs and dust mites.  (Not to mention all the work it saves you if your child should wet the bed or get sick in the middle of the night.)  You can get a plastic matrices cover for around $6 at Wall-Mart, or you can try Big Lots or Roses.  They may have them for even less.
  19. Use herbs instead of traditional meds
  20. Use honey or whole maple syrup on your pancakes and waffles instead of the regular maple syrups
