{Royal} Family Resemblance

Have you ever seen a child that was the "spitting image" of his or her parent?

A daughter with her mama's eyes.  A son with his daddy's height or build.  A whole bunch of kids that are undeniably siblings...  All are things that hint...or sometimes, scream...of family resemblance.  Relationship.  Kin.

Just as we tend to look like our physical family members, we should also resemble our Heavenly Father.  People may not know you, but they should be able to tell by the way you look that you are undeniably one of the King's Daughters!  Do you resemble a King's daughter?  If you know Jesus as your Saviour, you should because you are one!

We should do our best to look more and more like Him.  We should constantly be striving to become more like Him.  Others should be able to see Him in us by the way we act, the things we say, the places we go and the clothes we wear.

I'm not saying we should look strange and ridiculous.  Far from it!  I strongly feel that we should be in style and yet modest!  I believe we should do everything we can to look and act as feminine and as lady like as possible.  This is especially important in today's world when you can't always tell if you're looking at a man or a woman.

That being said, this post is not necessarily about your outward appearance, although that is important and must be taken into consideration - especially when dealing with princesses.  :)

This post is more about your family resemblance.  Do you resemble your Father in Heaven?

Acts 4:13 ~ Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

Sooner or later you will begin to act like those you hang around the most.  Peter and John were not educated men.  They were poor fishermen.  Lower class.  They had nothing to offer the world in and of themselves, but when they met Jesus all of that changed.  People could tell they had been with Jesus, not only because of things they said, but also because of the way they said them!

What kind of things do you talk about?  Can people tell by the things you say that you are a Christian?  Can they tell you love God and others by the way you behave and the things you say?

Do you love others like our Heavenly Father does?  Even the unlovely and irritating?  Or do we shrug them off so we can get on with the other "important" things on our to do list?

Do we respond in kindness when others have been cruel and ugly to us or our children?

Do we smile and offer to help someone even though we know they've been spreading gossip about us or our husband?

Do we pray for them even though we don't feel like it?

Do YOU {and I} resemble your {my} Heavenly Father in these ways?

A princess always resembles her family - her Royal Family!
